Our Groups

Most of our voluntary work is organised by local groups across the UK.

Each local group runs independently with its own chairman and committee. As well as helping to organise welfare work, groups often arrange social day or evening meetings, which may include invited speakers, book groups, bridge groups and outings. Many groups also arrange annual functions to raise funds for the League of Jewish Women. To keep local members up to date, some groups produce a newsletter.

Representatives from the groups attend meetings at head office to exchange ideas and discuss common problems.

If there is not a group in your area, you can become a Central member of the League of Jewish Women. This gives you the opportunity to undertake welfare work and to attend seminars and functions. Central membership is charged at the same rate as London and Home Counties membership.

Our latest group is LJWonline. Unlike traditional groups which are arranged locally, members of LJWonline stay in touch via Facebook and email and meet socially when it suits them. This group is ideal for younger, or working, women who may not have the time for regular meetings but who want to meet other like-minded Jewish women and either volunteer in their local areas or support others to volunteer.

All members automatically become members of LeagueArtz, and benefit from access to a full programme of cultural activities.

LADs (League Associate Division) enables men, and others not able to take up full membership, to participate in League of Jewish Women voluntary work, attend seminars and social functions.
