Summer Mitzvah Day in Leicester
Members of the Leicester group of the League of Jewish Women joined forces with other faith groups for their Summer Mitzvah Day Event and received an encouraging visit from Timothy Rowland Hercock of Halstead, the High Sheriff of Leicester.
This is the fourth year that members of the Leicester League have been involved in this multi-faith Mitzvah Day project supporting the charity Women’s Aid Leicester. This year they collected many trolley loads of goods for Women’s Aid Leicester refuges in the area which take in women fleeing from domestic violence.
“It was a very special and successful day. We collected food items, toiletries, women’s and children’s clothing, kitchen equipment, bedding, etc. – all items requested by the charity. As always, Asda’s customers were extremely generous in their donations and we collected many trolley-loads of goods. We had many volunteers working with us from all the various faith groups in Leicester” said Jacqui Coleman from Leicester League of Jewish Women.
