Many of you will remember and be missing the wonderful lunchtime concerts at  St. John’s Smith Square with Howard Shelley and the London Mozart Players.

We are delighted to let you know that a new series of “Piano Explored” concerts will be available online from 18th February 2021. You can access the programme details and book tickets (£8 each) by going to www.londonmozartplayers.com and clicking Piano Explored 2021 under the What’s On heading. Please note, each concert will be available for listening anytime from the online date given for at least one month.

At the beginning of the lockdown, we were all searching for projects to engross us, be it finding time to read that books you never had time for, making something new for the home, pledging to walk your 10,000 steps every day, etc., but what about learning a new language.

Having taken this to heart, I have diligently watched many foreign language series and at the moment, I am engrossed in Call my Agent set in Paris, so that’s French taken care of, although Spiral helped with the slang. The Bridge helped my Danish and Swedish. Inspector Montalbano my Italian. Unorthodox my German. Narcos my Spanish and, of course, Shtisel for Ivrit and Yiddish. Unfortunately, I am fluent in none of them so will revert to speaking slowly wherever (whenever !) I travel.
